I always start early decorating for Christmas – yes that means November.

It takes me ages to put all the decorations up and I don’t want to end up still decorating mid-December instead of enjoying the season surrounded by twinkly lights and all things Christmas. I guess you could say I love Christmas. This year is no different – started early but then still trying to catch up with buying presents and wrapping them. As it happens, I have on here Last Minute Christmas Gift Ideas 2024. It does feel last minute to me however so I hope it would be of use.

The year before that, I wrote a Christmas gift guide focusing only on gifts under £30. With rising inflation in the past couple of years, I cannot guarantee that these are still under £30 but again, worth a look if we are keeping to a certain gifting budget.

I actually managed to try the Brita Cube from a Christmas fair this year and it’s pretty impressive! Cold or hot water at a touch of a button! It’s not too big to take up worktop space either. The best thing about this is that there’s no installation needed! Just plug and play. It’s a good one! I’ve got my eye on this one for my Mum; it saves me from boiling the kettle for a tiny cuppa. And it’s great for my husband and kids too so I no longer have to buy ice from Tesco’s! So I’d say this is a good present for the entire family!

Some DIY lovers make the most of Christmas breaks and blitz those big jobs that have been put off for ages. I have done a lot of painting this year with Little Greene’s newest formulation. I’m so excited and can’t wait for the installation in January. I’ve gone for cafe style shutters in different colours in various rooms. I had the misconception that shutters cut out light from your home and my home doesn’t get much light at all already being north-east facing. Thanks to the Home Shutter team who pointed out to me that many of my windows have been installed with some light-cutting film on them hence I get so little light! I cannot wait to peel off those films, install the shutters and welcome more light into my home. Watch this space!

A FRIENDLY BUT IMPORTANT REMINDER

FireAngel

A friendly but super important reminder! Let’s not forget safety first! If you have an appliance that burns fuel anywhere in the home, make sure you have a carbon monoxide alarm. Mine is from FireAngel. I have several dotted around my house in various rooms and the one with the Digital Display is my favourite. CO is a silent killer and we want to be on the safe side always. I have them in most room near any fuel burner as CO can travel through walls and is odourless. It’s better to be safe than sorry. Now roll on Christmas!
